Foreign Trade Zones
Foreign Trade Zones provide a myriad of economic advantages for businesses involved in international trade. Primarily, merchandise may be manipulated, used in a manufacturing process, inspected, combined with other domestic or foreign materials, displayed for sale and/or re-exported without payment of duty. Savings on personal property, sales and use taxes are possible since state and local governments generally do not impose such taxes on items in an FTZ. Additional savings on interest, labor and shipping costs may also result.
North Carolina currently boasts six approved general purpose foreign trade zones. For businesses and manufacturers that export or import, Zebulon and the Research Triangle Region offers the unique service of a free trade zone. Foreign Trade Zone #93 is a general-purpose foreign trade zone operated by Longistics. The Zone offers facilities for storing, assembling, manufacturing and displaying merchandise.
Longistics has the ability to expand its FTZ operations to other, approved locations including your company's own plant site. Longistics offers secure, customs bonded space for storage of products. The FTZ #93 headquarters (Site 1A) is at 10900 World Trade Boulevard near Raleigh-Durham International.
